WebI can't see it as a hiking backpack, but will do really well for commuting, school, traveling etc. My one gripe is that due to not having cinch straps, it's can get puffy depending on how you pack it. The backpack struck me as being very good quality though, and as others have said, appears to be extremely well thought out organization wise.
